Ramos’ interest in the topic of the body led him to undertake a documentary project with boxers that led to an exploration of male vulnerability and images that reflected to pain and fragility.
Inspired by paintings of Saint Sebastian, Ramos’ book, Ex Corde —a Latin expression that means “from the heart”— attempts to assess the human experience.
Rodrigo Ramos was born in Mexico City in 1976, he has a bachelor degree in Communication. After which he studied photography and worked as a photojournalist for Reforma, a Mexican newspaper based in Mexico City covering news on national topics. He also worked as a media pool photographer for the Secretary of Interior in Mexico.
His work was selected in the Photography Bienniale 2014 of Centro de la Imagen in Mexico City and the dummy of his photobook was selected as a finalist on the shortlist of 30 projects in the Dummy Photobook Award Luma Rencontres 2015 in Arles, France.
Currently he works as a freelance photographer in Mexico City.
