108 Rock Star Guitars is an embossed, red leatherette book by photographer and author Lisa S. Johnson that is available in both Hardcover and softcover editions. The hardcover edition garnered the prestigious Silver Graphis Award in 2014 and American Photo magazine named it one of the “Best Photo Books of the Year” for 2013. Brian Setzer called it, “The classiest guitar book I have ever seen.”
In 108 Rock Star Guitars, the intimate portrait of guitars belonging to Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Jeff Beck, Nancy Wilson, Bonnie Raitt, Slash, Carlos Santana, Jack White, Ronnie Wood, Lou Reed, Ace Frehley, Billy Gibbons, Don Felder, Joe Walsh, Robby Krieger, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Winter are among the many rock stars whose instruments are featured along with Les Paul, who also wrote the foreword just prior to his passing.
A portion of the proceeds from sales benefit the Les Paul Foundation, which supports music education, engineering and innovation as well as medical research.
Armed with a macro lens, an incredible eye for detail and a truly ground breaking vision, Lisa Johnson’s guitar art, is taking the world of fine art photography on a rock and roll ride.
Born into a talented family, with a mother that sings and a father that plays guitar, bass, violin and mandolin, Lisa fell in love with melody and imagery and pursued a career in photography. After a successful 10-year stint at Kodak, Lisa found herself befriending the owner of a vintage guitar shop in Memphis, TN. It was there that she began to exclusively photograph guitars.
